Western Pennsylvania Wolf Trap: Integrating the Arts into the Early Childhood Curriculum

“The presenters from Wolf Trap were great! They were expert in the field and experienced with young children. We came away with practical suggestions for everyday classroom use.” – participant, August 2008

Plan now to kick off next school year by re-energizing your pre-K teaching toolbox at our August in-service. Now in its third year, the course will be held Thursday and Friday, August 10-11, 2010, 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM.

Credit: 12 hours Act 48 or PA Keys Certificate of Attendance available. (Knowledge Area K2, Level 1; Topic Code 19)

Cost: $100, includes materials, credit processing, continental breakfast and lunch.

Participants fulfilling all course requirements are eligible for a 7-week in-school Wolf Trap artist residency to provide mentoring and support for mastery of arts-based teaching techniques.

Teachers report: “I have a much larger repertoire of ways to use movement to teach self control, transition from one activity to another and to enhance literacy. The teaching artist helped me to develop the confidence that I needed to improve my technique and to feel successful with this process.”

Residency cost: $1,400 per classroom. Matching funds may be available through Gateway. For information or an application, contact Carol Wolfe at 412-362-6982 or e-mail carolw@gatewaytothearts.org
