CALL FOR NOMINATIONS OF PITTSBURGH PUBLIC SCHOOL SOPHOMORES FOR GATEWAY TO THE ARTS
PROMISING PERFORMER AWARD HONORING ROB MARSHALL

The Gateway to the Arts’ Promising Performer Award honoring Rob Marshall is presented annually to a Pittsburgh Public School sophomore whose music, language arts or drama teacher identifies them as an outstanding music, theater or musical theatre student. During the Awardee's Junior and Senior year they will have a full scholarship to the CLO Academy for music, dance and theater classes and coaching. Pending further approval by the CMU admissions office, the summer of their Junior to Senior year they will receive a FULL SCHOLARSHIP (including textbooks and other necessary materials) to attend the Carnegie Mellon University Pre-College Program in Drama or Music June -August 2012.

Student candidates must be college-bound sophomores with the appropriate grades (G.P.A. 3.5) and academic skills to apply to Carnegie Mellon University.

Teachers, to nominate an eligible sophomore please have the student send:
 Promising Performer Award application (contact Gateway to request)
• their GPA,
• 3 letters of recommendation and
• a personal statement

by April 30, 2011 to:

Selected students who have applied their sophomore year will audition in June of 2010 for a panel consisting of Charles Gray (retired Exec. Director of the Pittsburgh CLO), Keisha Lalama-White (Director of the CLO Academy), Don Wadsworth (Director, Pre-College Drama) , and Steven Neely (Director, Pre-College Music)  (or their assignees).

    Gateway at the 2012 Three Rivers Arts Festival

    Gateway to the Arts will have over 65 performing and visual artists in the Creativity Zone at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, bringing our quality arts programming out of the schools and into the community.

    Over the four weekend days of the ten-day festival, occurring June 1 - 10, 2012, Gateway's artists will engage families in interactive programs under three tents, featuring a StoryTime area, a performance stage and a hands-on activity tent.
