Quality arts learning improves students’ creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills — the 4Cs in the 21st Century Learning Framework. In this global age, our children must be prepared to find creative solutions, consider other points of view, and express themselves clearly to solve the challenges of an ever-expanding and interdependent world. Research continues to demonstrate that quality arts learning from early childhood through 12th grade has lasting benefits related to cognitive, socio-emotional and physical development. Do not leave your children behind!

Working with Gateway is easy. You make the call and we do the work. With over 50 years of experience, our standards and methods set us apart and are designed to support learning in schools and communities. Educators and program managers use Gateway to the Arts to provide quality arts experiences that achieve their learning goals and instill in children and youth the enthusiasm and energy that our artists bring to the classroom.

Our artists are selected for their professional standards in their art forms and ability to teach and connect with students and teachers. All of our programs are standards-based and include ideas for classroom connections and further exploration through our teacher guides. Firmly rooted in quality and relevance, Gateway’s programs are designed to be student-centered, active learning experiences that capture students’ attention and inspire deeper thought. We have a strong history of collaborating with educators and artists to create impactful experiences for students through our artist residencies and arts integration professional development, tailored to your classrooms and communities.

    A Whirlwind of Collaboration

Two densely-scheduled days this November marked the fruition of a collaborative project two years in the making, designed by Gateway to the Arts and the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University. The goal was to assist the graduate chamber music ensembles at CMU in developing dynamic outreach programs for public school students grades K-12. Funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, project coordinators Lisa Hoitsma of Gateway and Dr. Natalie Ozeas of CMU enlisted the expertise of the Grammy-nominated African-American woodwind quintet, Imani Winds, known world-wide for their high-quality outreach programming that focuses on excellent musicianship, audience participation and repertoire.
