Welcome, Carly!

E-mail Print

We extend a warm welcome to Carly V. McCoy who started full-time in September as our new Marketing and Development Manager. This June she earned her MBA from Point Park University in Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management. For eight years she worked at the Frick Art & Historical Center

as their Education Assistant, where she dealt extensively with the public and considered herself, “an arts education facilitator,” who was able to "contribute to enriched learning experiences for children and adults, moments that aid in the interpretation of the world that surrounds us and promote understanding and creativity through the arts.”

Her background in arts education, her new degree and her positive attitude made Carly the top candidate for the job. She also works as a consultant for her husband’s business Elstner’s Rod and Kustom, a hot rod restoration company. An active volunteer, she recently served on committees for WYEP’s Rock the Block, American Shorts and the Pittsburgh Triathlon and Adventure Race. For Gateway, Carly will be in charge of our website, social media, database management, campaigns, and publications. With her design experience and management skills we’re thrilled to have Carly as a part of the Gateway team.

Our previous Marketing and Development Manager, Alicia Fisk, who oversaw our branding campaign, moved to Burlington, Vermont this summer. We are happy to say we haven’t lost her completely, as she has been instrumental in the creation of this new website from her new home.

    A Whirlwind of Collaboration

Two densely-scheduled days this November marked the fruition of a collaborative project two years in the making, designed by Gateway to the Arts and the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University. The goal was to assist the graduate chamber music ensembles at CMU in developing dynamic outreach programs for public school students grades K-12. Funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, project coordinators Lisa Hoitsma of Gateway and Dr. Natalie Ozeas of CMU enlisted the expertise of the Grammy-nominated African-American woodwind quintet, Imani Winds, known world-wide for their high-quality outreach programming that focuses on excellent musicianship, audience participation and repertoire.
